Dental insurance: Benefit Limit and 50% co-insurance. Explain?
I have dental insurance which states that for " Routine Dental Treatment" that a " 50 % Co insurance applies" . There is then " Benefit Limit" of $400. Can some please explain what this means and how the Benefit limit and 50 % Co insurance are related. Thanks

How does dental insurance benefit the dentist?
i'm getting the impression my dentist is mad because i am getting 3 crowns placed and, with my insurance i'm only paying the price of one. i can take hints pretty well so pretty sure he is pissed and greedy. he mentioned to me that a crown is 1200 normally. but with my insurance they have an agreement with ins comp to only charge 585, of which i only pay 50 % out of pocket. the dentist left 3 root canaled teeth with just fillings on them for almost a year. he said he wanted me to get braces before he crowned them. so theyatarted wearing down and i got scare dthey would break so i asked to just place the crowns b c i am no where near financially ready to pay for braces. now i think he didn't give me crowns because he thought he wouldn't make any money off of them. so why do dentists agree to charge the lesser fee if a patient has insurance? it seems to me like they would be better off without even accepting insurance. or do the accept insurance as a way to seem hospitable to new patients?this dentist is famous for accepting emergencies with new patients. so its like he lures them in during desperate times. thats how i got in. but now i need a lot of work and the guy seems reluctant.
