Sooo, unfortunately I have a dentist's appointment. Any relaxation tips?
I have a dentist's appointment coming up soon and I'm just wondering what do you guys do to relax? At home or at the dentist's? I'm not terrified of the dentist or needles but I had an appointment today and I find I get really tense and stressed and now my entire body is just really sore. I think it's the sounds and the general atmosphere of the room that get to me and my next appointments are both going to be fairly long. I'm not a huge tea person but if there's something that you believe could really help I'd be willing to try. Please leave any suggestions And thank you

i've been refusing to go to the dentist because i gag really easy. but i finally broke down and i have an appointmen on friday. is there any ways that works so i won't gag at the dentist??

I went to see a dentist today. They did x rays, checked my gums, looked at my teeth. The doctor looked at x rays of my front teeth and said that she is not sure, but she thinks that I need a filling. I got a treatment plan for $1000 out of pocket gums & two fillings . Before I moved I went to see my dentist and he made sure that my teeth were in perfect conditions. He never mentioned that I need super pricy gum treatment. It was 5 months ago. This doctor told me that I need whole bunch of expensive dental work to be done. I actually came for a regular cleaning, but they said that I need a special cleaning with lots of antibiotics injected most of it is not even covered by insurance . Does it sound right?

How many of you brush your teeth before you get them cleaned at the dentist?
Ever since I was a child I ALWAYS brushed my teeth prior to going to the dentist. However, now that I am a dental hygienist myself, it seems as though people enjoy going in without brushing them at all, resulting in major plaque buildup and bad breath. I'm not trying to be mean, but that's just my experience. So just out of curiosity, how many of you brush and how many do not prior to your appointment?

Why does my dentist want to root canal teeth that aren't bothering me at all?
Had a mouth exam today and the dentist said I had to have 3 teeth root canaled and 2 teeth extracted none of which are bothering me at all.In the old days I had root canals done only when they started bothering me and I was told that waiting till they hurt was good enoughWhy the change????

I think I have pretty bad teeth, my bottom set are straight and pretty fine but my top arent all that, I have a cavity as well and its cut some of my teeth off, I'm really embarrassed about my teeth and shy about them and Im going to the dentist soon, what should I do?They arent all that white either, how can I make them white fast?

The dentist said I have a tobacco pouch?
I recently went to the dentist and when he was looking over my mouth he told his assistant that there's a tobacco pouch on the left side, and also on the right side. Does that just mean that's where I usually keep my dip? and is that bad? Look I know that dipping is bad but I just want to know if I should quit because the dentist could tell I dip, or if it doesnt matter if I have a small pouch or not?? thanksIf it's destroyed by the dip, if I quit will it ever be back to normal? or close to normal?

I used to be so beautiful, model material for sure. my teeth were amazing but when i turned 20 they started to decay, i guess i took vry bad care of them. I look awful in the mouth now. And when i get asked out im always afraid my teeth are gonna ruin the moment. and thats usually what happens. please please help me. I just wanna be beautiful again.

I HAVE A TROUBLESOME TOOTH, BUT DENTIST SAYS IT'S FINE?
Hi. For a week now I have had a randomly occuring sharp pain in one of my teeth on the lower right row of teeth. About 10 times a day the deep pain quickly shoots through my tooth and then goes away. I can feel where the pain is located but I can't quite pinpoint the exact tooth it's coming from. I went to the dentist, he said apart from a bit of redness to the gum around the wisdom tooth theres absolutely nothing wrong with any of my teeth. First of all, the pain I'm getting is not at the back of my mouth, it's a few teeth away from it. He gave me antibiotics in case it might have been a gum infection and I have taken all of them, but I told him from the very start there has been no pain whatsoever near my wisdom tooth or my gums, but in a totally different area. After the antibiotics I have the exact same problems as when I first went to see him. The issue I have now is, how the hell can I convince the man that I DO actually have pain in what seems to be a very specific area of my mouth. If he says theres nothing wrong again, do I just have to live with the pain?, is that how it works?. He checked all of my teeth twice and gave me the same verdict, this pain is massive when it hits, so it can't be nothing surely. I also need to add that I use sensodyne everyday as I do have slightly sensitive teeth, apart from the painful one. Maybe I just need to live with it and just keep taking ibuprofen or something.carolyn yeah it's a pain that happens totally random at different times throughout the day. I feel fine for most of the day but a few times a day this lightning pain goes right through my tooth and it hurts for about 2 seconds then goes completely away again until the next time.

ok guys i went to the dentist and had 5 fillings done, but one of the major ones was done on the upper left molar because there was a massive hole in it anyway he put a temporary filling in there and all was good. a few days later i start to notice tingling in my left cheek which i thought was nothing, the pain has now radiated near my temple and just next to the ear its like a throbbing stinging pain which is constant. and another thing is i have rustling in my ear, but only when i massage it. anyway i would like to know if its a bacterial infection that has got into the nerve and caused this pain.... any thoughts?
