What do dentists look for when making the decision to put braces on a patient?
Worried ill get braces, what are like the requirements for braces?

Are there any dentists that will fix my teeth and let me make monthly payments on the bill?
I am tired of having tooth pain.

Are there any free or low cost dentists in NYC?
I'm getting braces in July for free yay but the dentist informed me to have my 4 wisdom teeth removed because they're crooked and causing problems. I'm a college student and I do work but only make 19,000, before taxes. I pay for school and damn near everything else on my own so I can't afford any medical or dental services. I live in Harlem but I don't mind traveling bg to other boroughs. Are there any dental clinics or schools that offer wisdom teeth removal for free doubt it or at a reasonable cost?

I'm scared to go back to the dentist. What should I do?
I had braces for five years and then I had to get two implants, and all through this the dentists took weird x rays and impressions. I finally got my crowns and I was so happy with the final result. The teeth were comfortable and my smile finally looked great. Now, one of the crowns cracked after only two months. I wasn't even eating anything. I just woke up and I felt it crack. Now, I have to go back to the dentist and get a new crown. I'm terrified The last time I got my crown in, I didn't know what to expect, but now I do. Last time they lied to me about the blood in my mouth and it hurt so much to get it in. And then when my dentist took the crown off, he made really stupid jokes. He walked in and was all like, " Ready to crack some porcelain? " and then, " This is a war zone " when some of the porcelain landed in my eye. And now he put in a temporary plastic crown that is cutting my tongue open. I'm terrified to go back for him to put in the permanent crown, again. I've been having nightmares for the last week, and I keep losing myself in thoughts about it. I'm so scared What should I do?

I keep having nightmares about going to the dentist!?

Can a Non-religious Dentist find a place in Dentistry?
Long story short, I don't believe in god s , but I'm in a profession that is filled with an almost unanimous majority that have very strong faith, mostly in the christian god. I just started dental school, and although I anticipated this, I never quite realized how much this was going to bother me until I started dental school. I feel somewhat alienated because I don't have that religious common ground with my peers. Now I don't dislike people of faith, and I think for the most part having something to believe in is a really good and healthy thing. There are things that I believe and have faith in, just not a personal god or any particular organized religion. I respect anyone's right to have their own views about the world as long as they don't impose them or cause harm to others. Anyway, this is all beside the point. My question to you all is really a concern I have. This being. With all these highly conservative christian Mormon etc dentists where do I fit in the picture? Given that dentists practice in in small practices with one or two other dentists. I'm concerned that it will be hard for a more liberal minded non theist like me to find employment when so many in my profession might prefer to higher someone who has " christian values" essentially meaning they belong to some organization that has 'christ' in the name." I really enjoy dentistry and I love the flexibility I can enjoy both in terms of my hours and the spectrum of treatments I can offer my patients. Do you think my religion or lack there of will have a negative effect on my ability to be successful in this profession? Even if you're not a dentist, don't like dentists, or even are in a similar situation as I am in a different profession I'd appreciate your feedback. Thank you

Using dental records from other dentist to save money?
Basically I haven't been to the dentist in 3.5 years. I have some cavities that definitely need filling and MAY need one crown. I have been doing good home care but just haven't had the cash to get all my stuff fixed.I still have relatively no cash but I really don't want to wait any longer. The problem is the most highly rated dentists near me charge 300 bucks out of pocket for full cleaning, examine and X rays. However, there is another dentist somewhat nearby running a sale for examine, x rays, and cleaning for just $120. Can I get the check up at the one dentist for cheap and forward all records to the other, better dentists so I can get my fillings with the more expensive dentist? I'm worried that if I do that, the dentist doing the fillings will charge me extra since I have never been to him before...In other words, if I use the records and x rays from one dentist and bring it to a new dentist, will the NEW dentist charge me an examination fee on top of it, or will he simply charge me for the fillings work that needs to be done? Should I just stick with one dentist?
