General health/vision/dental insurance question...?
I just became eligible for medical, vision, and dental insurance with the company I work for. The insurance plans are said to be excellent given the current economical conditions the provider for medical insurance is Blue Cross Blue Shield. I have a few questions...1 The plan's requirements is 20 hrs per week and I'm a part time employee whose hours fluctuates. Do most providers look at average hours weekly, monthly, quarterely, yearly? I'm afraid I'll drop below 20 hours and lose my benefits. 2 Can I opt to get dental & vision without medical. Vision & dental are both less than $10 per paycheck whereas medical is almost $40 per paycheck. I really just need vision and dental...3 If I get an eye exam and receive eye glasses and contacts through the program and then quit or lose my eligibility a few weeks months later, do I have to pay anything to the provider and eat the costs or can I keep the glasses & contacts but just lose my eligibility? I understand that there are many different plans so I'm speaking in terms of generally. I'm asking these questions because I'm a full time college student and part time employee and I can't predict whether I'll be with this company in 6 months from now...
